An explanation and troubleshooting steps for Error 106 - Camera failed to connect.
General Resolution
Turn the main switch off, wait 5 seconds, then turn it on again.
This message indicates that while the mini-PC can connect to the control board inside the machine, it cannot detect a camera connected to either itself or that board. On earlier models (assembled prior to November 2023) the camera is plugged into the control board. On later models they are plugged directly into the internal PC. The error can be caused by:
- the firmware on the control board has frozen, and requires a restart
- the USB cable between the camera and control board, or camera and the mini-PC has come loose
- the control board, USB cable, USB ports, camera or some combination thereof are faulty
Usually, flipping the main switch off and on will resolve the issue. In rare cases, you may need to restart the PC as well.
If power-cycling the main switch and mini-PC do not resolve the issue, it is recommended to contact Support for additional troubleshooting and/or a swap of the scanner unit.
