# Multi-Language Detection

## Use and application while sorting non-English cards (currently only for Magic: the Gathering)

The PhyzBatch-9000 can currently support Magic: The Gathering cards in 19 different languages - *English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Russian (Cyrillic), Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Hebrew, Latin, Ancient Greek, Arabic, Sanskrit, Phyrexian, Dwarvish, and Quenya*. That's right - you can even sort those cool runic Lord of the Rings cards!

Please note that while this feature is *functional*, it is still actively being developed and improved. We don't expect it to be perfect - yet - and appreciate your feedback! But please know we will be working on this in the background when we can to make whatever small fixes and adjustments to continually improve, just like everything we do here at TCG Machines.

As of right now, this support is limited to only Magic: the Gathering, but we hope to offer true multi-language support across all our supported TCGs eventually.

### How to Use Multi-Language Support

This feature is mostly passive; you can sort all your Magic cards together regardless of language, and the machine should be able to recognize, ID, and sort as per normal. We have also introduced a couple new settings and features related to this update, however:

- Limit Search by Language

This option can be found near the bottom of the left-hand menu on the Sort page, and will limit the sort to a specific language - if you know you're only sorting Japanese cards, this will help keep the sort efficient.

Russian (Cyrillic) and Korean cards **cannot** currently be detected alongside other languages.  The machine can detect them, but you must select them in the "*Limit by language*" dropdown.  Only one of these languages may be selected at a time, and they exclude the detection of other languages at the same time.  You can also edit languages in *Sort History* and *View & Verify*.

Language support can slightly slow down the expected speed of operation for the machine. If you want that classic PhyzBatch speed, Limit Search to English. For now, that means that cards in alternate languages won't be detected if they do not have an explicitly English version, but we are working to change that!

- Default Language

Consider this as you setting the fallback option, the last resort - when the machine scans a card, if it cannot identify the language, it will default to whatever you put here and then proceed with identifying the card.

**Note:** if no card data can be found under any searchable language, the machine will label the the card as unidentifiable and send it to Bin 1.

- Fall Back to English Pricing
  ![](https://support.tcgmachines.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Screenshot%202026-10-21%20113615-png.png?width=264&height=109&name=Screenshot%202026-10-21%20113615-png.png)

If a card has no price data attached to the specific language it is printed in, by toggling this, the machine will automatically assign the English price to that card. This will only function for cards that have language-specific prices.
