Network Setup Guide

How to connect your PhyzBatch-9000 to your local network.

There are two things your TCG Machines card sorter needs to function when it comes to networks.  It needs access to the internet, and a local device (PC, tablet, or phone) on the same network.  It is recommended to connect via wireless.

The PhyzBatch is known to have issues when connecting to Mac or Chromebook computers.  There are workarounds, but these need to be done on a per-machine basis.  Please contact Support for assistance.  The network setup should be completed first.

For this document, XXXX refers to the service tag of your sorter, found on the sticker near the power plug.  ex. 72a8, b0ca

Troubleshooting

Wireless

  • Make sure your sorter is plugged in and turned on.
  • Using your PC, tablet or phone connect to the wireless network "PhyzBatch XX:XX" using the password "Tcg1Machines".  The password is case-sensitive.  This network will be active for 1 hour after turning the machine on.  If it has been longer than an hour, restart the mini-PC and sorter.
    scan_network
  • Opening your browser should bring up the page above.  Select your wireless network from the dropdown menu, enter your password, and hit Submit.

If the above page does not load automatically, it can be reached by entering 192.168.24.1 into your search bar while connected to the PhyzBatch hotspot.

  • If you want to change networks click on Forget Network and then repeat the above process.
    scan_network_ok
  • Once your PhyzBatch is connected to your wireless you should see the above screen.  The link provided is used to connect to your sorter from a locally connected device (PC, tablet, etc.).  It is recommended to save this link to your bookmarks.

You may be unable to connect to the sorter if your device is on a different subnet within your network.  This can include setups with multiple routers or repeaters.

The local link will always be http://tcgmachines-thinkcentre-m70q-XXXX:3003/login

Your PhyzBatch-9000 is now successfully connected to your wireless.  You can reconnect your device to your wireless network and log in to the sorter using the provided link.

Wired

  1. Make sure your sorter is plugged in and turned on
  2. If connected to wireless, log into the hotspot as shown above and remove all previous wireless connections by selecting the name of your network and clicking Forget Network
  3. Remove the ethernet cover (either one screw or both) from the machine to expose the ethernet receptacle.
    ethernet_cover
    ethernet_cover_open
  4. Connect an ethernet cable to the sorter
  5. Your sorter should now be connected to your network.

The link to your sorter is http://tcgmachines-thinkcentre-m70q-XXXX:3003/login from a device on the same network

You may be unable to connect to the sorter if your device is on a different subnet within your network.  This can include setups with multiple routers or repeaters.

Troubleshooting

Networking can be complicated, and one solution to a problem may not work at a different location.  The general tips are as follows:

  • try resetting the PhyzBatch mini-PC (hold down the small round button under the large switch for ~3 seconds, then press it again)
  • try repeating the wireless setup process
  • try hooking the PhyzBatch up with a wired cable (make sure to "Forget" any wireless settings through the wireless setup first!)
  • make sure the connecting PC and PhyzBatch are on the same local network (i.e. not a different subnet)
  • try resetting your router (probably not a good idea during business hours)
  • try connecting to http://tcgmachines-thinkcentre-m70q-XXXX.local:3003/login (where XXXX is your service tag
    • if this works, it's indicative of a DNS problem with your router.  Since the PhyzBatch's IP address changes with every restart (a software MAC address is required for the hotspot to work), we use a DNS alias (http://tcgmachines-ThinkCentre-etc.) so your login is always the same.  Some network setups or routers don't work well with this.  It's recommended to try resetting the PhyzBatch and router or contact Support (will not work for sorting unless configured to do so)
  • if you can log into the PhyzBatch but commands sent to the PhyzBatch do not prompt a response (nothing will happen, or the green "Sorting" wheel will spin without sorter activity), reset the mini-PC, wait 1 minute, and then flip the main switch off and on

If all attempts fail, please contact Support for additional assistance.  We can't change your network settings, but it might be possible to provide more insight into what the issue is.
