Anti-Static Brush Installation Guide
If you’ve recently received and Anti-Static Guard Upgrade Kit, please follow the written guide to install the new system onto your PhyzBatch-9000.
To do this procedure, you will want the following tools:
-
5.5mm socket
-
T10 screw bit
-
Soft Rod
-
Screwdriver
Your Anti-Static Guard Kit should include the static brush with a small star washer. All tools and pieces are pictured below.
-
Step one will be to remove the scanner from the conveyor.
-
Then we will remove the side panel of the Scanner. The screws are marked below. Depending on which model of the PhyzBatch you have, you may have to take off the top and side as one piece. If you have a newer machine, you will only have to remove the side panel.
-
If your machine does not have the centre screw (marked with the arrow) on the top of the side panel, then you only have to remove the side panel

Pro Tip: Using a handheld screwdriver instead of a power drill can help prevent the screws from stripping.
-
Remove the side cover by tilting it out towards yourself.

-
Next, remove the screws holding on the Motherboard Cover.
-
Then you’ll take a look at the Conveyor side of the scanner, and remove the bolt from the electrical bulkhead on this side of the scanner.
-
Once these three screws have been removed, you can fold the motherboard down.
Caution!! If the motherboard does not move easily, investigate rather than forcing it down. This is a delicate piece of the machine.
-
For the next step you will need the 5.5 mm socket to loosen the ground wire. This is the green wire at the back of the motherboard, near the hinge that folds.
-
Completely remove this bolt so you can slide a new wire on top.
Pro Tip: The soft rod is useful here due to the position of the cable. This rod allows flexibility when working in this part of the machine.
-
Make sure there is an M3 star washer under the terminal. Add the wire for the Static Brush above the grounding wire. Install a new M3 washer on top of the terminal and reinstall the nut on top.
-
Your stack on the screw should be Star washer, Grounding Cable, Static Brush, star washer, nut.
-
Tighten the nut down until it touches the star washer, then give it another small turn.
Do Not Overtighten!
-
Next, run the wire up the side of the scanner. The static brush mounts inside the card exit end.
-
You will see a curved section of the static brush – this curved portion fits on the round support bar inside the scanner.

-
Make sure the slots in the front of the static brush are not binding on the Taco Bar.
-
Now we will press the static brush down on to the bar. Use the handle of a screwdriver or something similar to gently push down from above. You will hear it click in to place.
-
Next, we secure the wiring! You will see a small slot in the top of the scanner wall, slide the cord in to fit flush in this notch.
-
Push the static brush along the rest of the wires running down the length of the scanner, zip tie this cord to the rest to prevent it from contacting any of the drive components. Then trim the zip ties.
-
Next fold the motherboard cover back up, and reinstall the Bulkhead retaining bolt.
-
Now just reattach the siding, and you’re ready to sort static free!
