Error - Entry Sensor Failed to Trigger

An explanation and troubleshooting steps for Error 114 - Entry Sensor Failed to Trigger.

General Resolution
Continue the sort to clear the machine.  Adjust the foot and/or tails Infront of the hopper.  Clean the feed wheels and front grabber (rubber) rollers.

This error will almost always manifest as an Refill Hopper error.  The PhyzBatch has an infrared sensor at the beginning of the scanner bay.  Cards trigger this scanner when passing through.  If the sensor isn't triggered, the PhyzBatch assumes the hopper is empty, or the cards are otherwise not feeding into the bay and stops.  This has three primary causes:

  • the feeder needs adjustment
  • the feed wheels need cleaning
  • the sensor is faulty

entry_sensorIf the problem is intermittent, you may immediately resume your sort.  The PhyzBatch will attempt to clear any excess cards and will try to feed new ones into the bay.

Feed Wheels

Feed wheels require the most frequent cleaning of all components as they are the first point of contact with cards.

  • Select "Clean Feed Wheels" from the Maintenance drop-down.maintenance_clear_machine
  • Take the provided sponge, dampen it with water, and hold it to the wheels.

Use a microfiber cloth and isopropyl alcohol for the best results.

Black marks from the rubber, even on a new machine are normal.  This is the carbon from the vulcanization process with the rubber and will not harm the wheels or cards.

  • Turn off "Clean Feed Wheels" when done cleaning.

Adjust Feed Fixer

Refer to the Adjustment Guide to adjust your feed system.

If neither of these processes fix the issue, the entry sensor may be faulty.   Please contact Support for further troubleshooting.
